"The word of God is the greatest, most necessary, most important thing in Christendom. Without the external Word we would not know one spirit from another...Let the man who would hear God speak, read Holy Scripture." - Martin Luther

Well, he certainly knows who Jesus is.

All that is lacking from this excerpt is the handing over to the sinner, without cost, the forgiveness of sins for Jesus' sake.(That's the Gospel)

Hopefully that happened in the minutes following the excerpt.

Even the fallen angels(the demons) knew who Jesus was when He showed up.

If Christ isn't given to the sinner in the preaching of His Word, and in the sacraments...then you might as well have stayed home and watched the football game, or whatever.

this was said further in the message:
"...the good news that Christ has become for us the curse to bear God’s wrath and the righteousness to meet God’s demand. This is the heart of the gospel. And without it, there is no hope to escape God’s wrath, no hope to know Christ’s supremacy, and there is no hope for sexual purity. But here it is for everyone who believes: Galatians 3:13, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.’” We were under the curse of God’s wrath. But Christ became a curse for us. And here it is again: Philippians 3:9, Paul’s testimony that he is “found in [Christ], not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.” God’s demand was that we be perfect. We cannot, in our sin, fulfill this demand. But Christ has. And by faith in him that perfect righteousness is imputed to us."
